a good find for book lovers like me…

Make an Offer: Negotiate Prices on Great Books!

Okay.. if you can’t tell .. I’m a sucker for books. I don’t read as much as I’d like to & used to be MUCH worse when I had more free time, but I love to have books around. To look at, hold, read… to just know I have all this knowledge and information at my fingertips… i’m a little weird

In fact, one of the best ‘gifts’ Nick gave me not long after we met, was showing up with a truck full of moving boxes full of books they found at a clean out/ hauling job.. it was like CHRISTMAS.. Seriously!! Hours of fun for us both… going through, finding newer books, classics, random stuff I’d never buy but am glad to add to my collection–some  super old books (VERY cool!) – it was great (we were excited, just an example of the random stuff we do that reiterates how perfectly matched we are ).

I’m aware that not always will the ‘book fairy’ show up with hundreds of books, so I’ve also come across a couple of websites that sell books for SUPER low prices. One, used to be called Alibris.com (but now it’s called Biblio).

Whenever Diore needs a book for school reading or  wants the newest maximum Ride novel, this is where I look first!

When he was younger, we went through a Dr. Seuss phase.. I bought EVERY single Dr. Seuss book I could find. There is a very good chance we have most every one .

I find a new author or philosopher or read a classic & decide I need to fill out my collection with MORE from that author… $50 later and I have another dozen books to add to the shelf!

If you love books (and hoarding.. just a little :) ) — these 2 websites are an amazing find, I had to share

i’m a ‘cashmere mist’ girl…

KristinaMari No Comments

It’s a funny story how I ‘found’ “the” perfume for me — When I moved to the Toledo area ( bought a home in Sylvania) – a ‘tester’ bottle of Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist just happened to be left in the bathroom medicine cabinet… Being a tiny bit of a hoarder and not wanting to let good things go to waste.. I let it sit there for awhile.

One day, realizing I’d forgotten to put perfume on, I grabbed it & put on a couple of sprays.. I thought… Hmmm.. this is nice & it was, I liked it a Lot! Weird, tho, because other people were noticing too. At the time, I was working with the newspaper and was going in/out of many different businesses most of the time.. often there were people sniffing me.. comments about how great I smelled, etc.. (I was a little weirded out, but thought it was kinda cool :) )

I’d never heard of the fragrance before, & was really glad the people I bought my house from left it for me! Ever since, this has been my perfume of choice – It’s been over 6 years– I do have a bit of trouble finding it sometimes when I’m out, so I’ll be honest.. I’m putting it here so I can order it super easily when I run out :)

Carhartt’s for kids

Shop New Summer Arrivals at AxlsCloset! Most people don’t know, I do a LOT of shopping online. With work & kids, I find it a lot easier to browse and enjoy the whole shopping experience if I just do it from my computer – I’m a hermit.. it’s true :)

I’ve decided to blog more often & in that include more just general info about us & what we do. Many people are looking for great websites to buy clothes for their kids, or weird random products, so when I find something cool, I’m going to start sharing!

Nick’s big into Carhartt – there are very few days when he’s not wearing Carhartt at one time or another (he works a lot & he just like’s how they fit & hold up with time and all the crazy dirt, grease, concrete, drywall mud, paint, who knows what he gets into!). I just found this site that has (among many other cool things our kids would love :) ) — kid’s Carhartt jackets/overalls etc. They even have baby carhartt stuff! How cute is this?!?!?!

True, we’re not going to stock our kids up on them, but for special occasions… to get them something to help them ‘be like dad :)’ – it’s a cool site & if you’re looking for a new online store with cool clothes for your kids (not necessarily carhartts :) , you should add them to your list of cool online stores!

Oh & if you’re just looking for regular Carhartts ( mens, womens etc..)  – this site has a GREAT selection!!

The Fly [ William Blake ]

KristinaMari No Comments

Little Fly
Thy summers play,
My thoughtless hand
Has brush’d away.

Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?

For I dance
And drink & sing;
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing.

If thought is life
And strength & breath;
And the want
Of thought is death;

Then am I
A happy fly,
If I live,
Or if I die.

i love you deep

KristinaMari No Comments

i love you deep
inside and out

i long to please you
there is no doubt

i see through the fear
the pain and the words

that you throw to show
just how much
you need to be heard

i choose for you freedom
happiness and success that is true

i let you go now…
so it will all come to you

How do people with nothing remain so entirely happy?

Life is not something created to hurt us, to drain us, to bring us down.
It is meant to teach us, to nurture us, and to lead us (sometimes gently, sometimes harshly) through a number of experiences we must go through to ultimately arrive at where we’re meant to be.

We must stop ourselves from feeling sorry for ourselves, for wallowing in pity – we MUST stand up and be aware. Ask ourselves (and the universe in general) ‘What do I do from here? Where am I being led? What is it I am meant to do? ‘

Find the inner truth. The you inside. Feel it – See it — Want it — Believe it . Only then, will the truth come to you

all i’ve ever wanted…

KristinaMari No Comments

I’ve thought of what it is..

what i need to know…

this is what i ask myself often–
the only thing i ask for.. from u.. to make me unquestionably believe..

can i trust you — believe in you
have absolutely no doubts about.. your efforts.. your intentions.. no doubts about anything

can i , not sometimes, but all the time
put our futures in your hands and know that you are doing all u can every minute to preserve and protect them..
to make it as good as u can

can i? and can you live everyday showing me why i can.. and treat me in ways that never make me have to question.. ever again?

that is.. all i have ever wanted.

to know i have is actually what i have. to believe in it unquestionably .. and to not be proven an idiot for putting all my .. everything.. into the hands of someone that only pretended.. sometimes.. it should be there…

‘How 2 get what you really really, really really want…

KristinaMari No Comments

I’ve found that listening to an audiobook of Wayne Dyer & Deepak Chopra entitled ‘How to Get what You Really, Really Want’ inspires/empowers me & generally lifts my mood (even if I’m only 1/2 listening while cleaning the house etc..)

anyways :) -there is one part that (in the section about what you really, really Don’t want, you’ll get that too :)) – that I for some reason thought of the perfect example for —

Wayne discusses having an amazing amount of money  & buying hideous things even though you don’t like them. Which, I guess, to me doesn’t make sense, although I understand the point he’s trying to make. The other day, I thought of a change to his example, that would make it make more sense to me —

you’re in the mall with a ton of money — every second you spend thinking about/looking  at something, costs you $1,000

you walk by a window -” that is the most hideous rug I’ve ever seen… ” (cost you $1,000)–  instead of diverting attention from the ‘hideous’ piece, you linger (another $1,000, oh by the way) .. ‘I would never…’ (another $1,000 of your precious attention-bank) ..’ have you ever seen something so horrible? ($1,000) … 20 minutes later, still staring at the unacceptable item, you’ve invested over 1 Million dollars of attention on this thing that you definitely Don’t want —

on what you did want, it only took $2,500

why do we spend so much time on what we’re sure isn’t what we want & then act surprised when this we’ve invested so much time in happens.. we’ve paid for it, the universe is just delivering.

for ‘now’

when we live in the future
we invite fear

when we live in the past
we invite sorrow

but when we live in the moment
we invite excitement, enthusiasm and innocent wonder

I realized

KristinaMari No Comments

yesterday just how lucky I am
you have such a good heart, you amaze me sometimes with our understanding and compassion, your self control, but mainly your love. It is more than I knew anyone could give me.
I know that a lot of times I may not earn you and all you’ve given me, but I know that I want to try to.
I want to never make you wonder or worry, or question —
but just to know that I am 100% unquestionably with you
and feel so lucky to be.

I am finally sure

KristinaMari No Comments

of myself and feeling good about just being me
knowing that I am doing what I am supposed to do
happy with myself

and you have to call me every 5 minutes to remind me what a horrible person I am and how much pain I’m causing you – All that you used to have and not appreciate that now you do not have

it’s not my fault that I have changed, I haven’t changed, I’ve found myself —
i have realized now all the things that were making me be like I was (not me)
and that they have to change

you are not bad, I care about you very much,
but I have found that I cannot be with you and still be me
& that is not acceptable

wow

you are all that I believe I will ever need (seriously!) I learned more from you in one day than I have ever learned in my whole life and I cannot wait to keep learning more from you – from just experiencing life with you.
You are the most amazing person I have ever met and I seriously can not picture another time (ever :) ) that I would wish to fall asleep without looking up and you and smiling. First, just because a person like you exists and I am fortunate enough to have met you….
…I wanted someone, someone that would just know me & be as glad to be with me as I was to be with them, all I said to you yesterday (last night) – that I’m so lucky, I truly am, this is more than I had ever hoped for….

… now I know that wherever you are is where I would most like to be today, tomorrow, whenever & for once I don’t even need to question myself or judge it, but just know, be quiet & enjoy the ride

Thank you!

ok, well :)

feeling restless and crazy — this kinda stinks and I think I’d rather be over it… sooo hmmm — I don’t know what to say — I want to know what I want to do and i think I do know, yet it’s really going to hurt him and I don’t want to do that.
I think about you so much, why is that — there are so many things not right, yet my mind lingers on the ‘right’ ones. You’ve touched me somehow.. a lot. and have made a real difference to me. Showed me how nice things can be, how not stressful a relationship can be without all the sacrifices I’ve had to make to make my current one work —
your eyes — mostly your lips — your touch — God, I look forward to more of you, although I know it’s not realistic or even long-term-ly possible — but I don’t know — I can’t be a grown-up about it — just gotta think of you and spending time with you — anyways :) — it’s dumb — you’ve said nothing to even insinuate that you are even close to the same — but hey:) it’s ok :)
You’re really good at ‘loving someone’ showing love and just being amazing to be with and I could enjoy that quality of yours forever –
I’ve never had it like that before and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
I do miss you, but would definitely prefer to “not” miss you :)
Bye sweetie, I look forward to anything :)

Accidentally thinking of you, as usual!

A Minor Bird

KristinaMari No Comments

[Dickenson]

I have wished a bird would fly away,
and not sing by my house all day;

Have clapped my hands at him from the door,
when it seemed as if I could bear no more.

The fault partly must’ve been in me
The bird was not to blame for his key.

and of course there must be something wrong
in wanting to silence any song.
